Agenda: Deliberation upon the control of minor presence in military forces
The world today stands at a critical juncture, where the very fabric of international law and the well-being of a vulnerable population converge. The presence of minors in military forces worldwide poses a significant challenge to the principles outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which explicitly prohibits the recruitment and utilisation of child soldiers. Involving minors in military forces is a deeply condemnable practice prohibited by laws worldwide. Nevertheless, minors continue to be present in armed forces in countries that disregard the fundamental human rights that should be guaranteed to all children globally. Minors, some as young as eight years old, are robbed of their childhood, deprived of basic education and healthcare, and exposed to unthinkable violence. This committee will ask delegates to deliberate and engage in discourse over resolving this issue and providing minors with the life they truly deserve, rather than a life they are forced to live, one of conflict, blood and terror.
